St. Lawrence River - Waddington

Had a tournament on the St. Lawrence River out of Waddington NY, on July 26th. Most of the teams involved reported a tough bite with a few teams getting on them and separating themselves from the pack. We started the day running into some engine issues which altered our game plan in flight on where we could go. Had trouble getting it on plane all day long so it sapped a bunch of our time but we did manage to grind our way through the day and get some "ok" fish in the boat. The smallmouth were on the graph but those babies had lock jaw. I threw the kitchen sink at them but just couldn't seem to get them to touch anything. We got a few keepers in the boat working a few shoals, dropshotting XZone slammers and Strike King Dream Shots. We decided with our issues we couldn't really go running around so we had to grind it out where we were and slowly every hour we would upgrade slowly up the ladder with our weight. In the end we finished with 18.42lbs (which is a down day...how crazy is that...18.42 lbs isn't a great day...what a body of water huh?!?!?) Good enough for a 5th place finish and a small positive on a frustrating day. The majority of our bigger fish were in that 18-22 ft range and really wanted that bait soaked before they would take it. Winning weight was 5 smallies for 21.59 lbs by Robert Marceay and Dick Garlock.
