Rapala's New BX Minnow

This past weekend I was fortunate to have field tested an exciting new minnow bait by Rapala (just released at ICAST) called the BX Waking Minnow. True to it's name this is Balsa bait with a heavy-duty copolymer shell also features oversized eyes and realistic finish. The Waking Minnow is weighted for extremely long casts and floats at rest with it's head out of water and tail down. This bait is unique from other Rapala minnows do to the "Wake Bait" lip design. After trying various retrieves I've concluded this is the most versatile minnow I've ever fished! The " BX Waking Minnow" is a wake bait with a few tricks up it's sleeve. On a slow/moderate steady retrieve you get an extreme surface wake with a beautiful rolling flash. Upon experimentation I found during the retrieve a quick, slightly faster retrieve or sweep of the rod makes this minnow spit and gurgle reminding me a lot of the "Storm" Chug Bug which got me as well as the Pike and Smallmouth in my lake very excited (video to be released as soon as I can). With slight twitches this bait will make subtle glides turning side ways at rest. Being a multi functional bait makes the BX WAKING MINNOW a must have for fishing various species so all I can tell you is when these baits become available you better get your hands on one you won't be disappointed.
