Labor-Intensive Day Larry's

I was fortunate enough to of had Labor Day off of work, after getting some things done around the house I immediately headed to the lake. Schedules finally lined up and Will Stolski of Team Yukon Outdoors was able to hop in the boat with me for an evening full of shallow water Porkchop'n. The tactic was simple; skipping and pitching docks in dirty water. My go-to big fish bait for the evening (and the majority of the season) was a 1/4oz jig in Green Pumpkin matched with a bulky trailer to help move some water. Will took big fish honors of the night with a 20.5 green carp that had a mouth like a Whale Shark! The fish fell victim to a Texas Rigged Craw Tube. I actually missed that fish the cast before, it bit like a little bluegill then proceeded to absolutely school me. The beauty of fishing in dirty water is that the majority of time those fish will bite a second or even third time if they don't get a good hook in them. Ultimately it was a great quick trip that actually ended up being quite labor-intensive. We have to take advantage of the open-water season while it is still in its prime. The best part is that it should only get better from here on out.
