Making your own jigs, skirts and baits.

How many times have you been on the fish and they are just tearing your jig skirt, or spinnerbait skirt up. Or just couldn't seem to get the right color combination to produce that ' yup, she's got it good, type strike. Maybe you just want to take you knowledge of your favorite body of water and make a custom jig or skirt for your bladed baits. I'm sure some of you are familiar with FishingSkirts.com. The selections they have available could in fact allow you to create a color combination Jerry Garcia would have been proud to have on a shirt. I came upon their website several months back, after searching for another option, due to a very limited selection at my local shops for colors and availability. IMPRESSIVE is the one word that comes to mind. For standard skirt making kits to unpainted jig head, even some unique punching products, they have you covered. They also have unpainted crankbaits if you wanted to custom paint your own. FishingSkirts.com is proud to offer the world's largest selection of Fishing Skirt Material along with custom designed Bass Jig Heads. They carry exclusive custom designs by Bass Masters Gary Klein and Cliff Pace as well. FishingSkirts.com also has a great program where you can submit your creations, using a list of the components used, for a chance to get a 15% discount, potentially more if you wanted to shoot a video of you making it. Again, I'm sure a lot of anglers on NPS already know about this company, but I wanted to put it out there for those that didn't. My order is ready to go, almost, I keep adding additional colors. Hope you found this informative and swing by www.fishingskirts.com and take a look, I'm sure you will have a few item in the cart in no time. Be safe this season and Tight Lines: Steve Allen

I think I saw a few poppers as well. If you make a few, post some pics, I would like to see them.

Awesome article Steve. I had no idea about this website but I will definitely look into it now. I've always wanted to try custom painting my own crankbaits because I have a special color combination that always catches fish for me on my lake. However, the problem with this is that I can't find a crankbait with the perfect color. The closest one I have found is the KVD Squarebill 2.5 in Sexy Sunfish color. Still, it is not quite what I want and there's a couple things I would want to add and take off. I'll for sure check them out and maybe try painting my custom crank. How about topwater baits? I've also wanted to custom paint a popper that looks like one of my chug bugs but with a little different gill and tail color.
