Cork Magic!

Rod and reel maintenance for the hardcore angler can sometimes be....well a little OCD at times. Not that there is anything wrong with this seasons end ritual, after all you've spent countless dollars on top notch equipment and you want it in tip top shape. But what about cleaning the cork grips on your rods? Even after one day of fishing the cork gets covered in dirt, fish slime and who knows what else. Harsh chemicals will certainly clean the cork but when it gets penitrated by these industrious cleansers, the integrity of the original cork is jeopradized. I have a very easy and somewhat "magic" solution to cleaning your cork grips and removing small blemishes or rashing on your blanks too. Mr.Clean Magic erasers. 1. open the package 2. soak with clean water 3. squeeze out the excess water 4. wipe away a seasons (or a days) worth of grime. The last photo is an old Fenwick woodstream float rod given to me from an old friend, the cork on this has never been cleaned until today. I only "erased" the bottom 1/2 of the fore-grip to show you the difference. It took about 2 minutes. Its simple, its safe and its cheap! A standard pack will run you about $5.00 and will clean and polish about 20 rods. Save your moolah for tackle, keep your gear in showroom condition, fish hard and fish safe!
