BEING OBSERVANT

being observant really paid off for me today. waters were still really low but a nice little stain from all the runoff. water was dead calm and not a thing surfacing or moving at all. drifted all the deep hole and not even a nibble. got talkin and my float drifted into shallow water. now water pretty clear in shallows and most steelheaders wouldn't even consider fishing there. that bein said including myself. but was different here was a ledge of shore ice about three feet out into the water. I watched the wake of a fish come darting out and wham down my float goes. so in this shallow water which I never would a fished before I started casting and running my float down the edge of it. hence from the pics you can see the fish were taking cover under the ice and ambushing the bait. just like bass on a weedline:) 5-10mm rain tomor. definitely lookin forward to that.
