12-21-14 Scouting for tournament crappies Pt. 1
With the first tournament of the ice circuit fast approaching I took the day to pre fish the first stop with my tournament partner and two friends. Action was slow to start but after a little bit of searching we finally found crappies in 16-18fow. Of course it wasn't untill I decided to venture off on my own to fish some virgin water that the other three guys really lit them up. Once back with the group we decided to make another move and found some more very nice crappies with a 10-11" average and 12" being the biggest. Towards the afternoon the fish became VERY picky and switching colors and presentations was a must. On a bad note I ended up breaking the top off of my tickle stick but I found out it can still be used and is still very sensitive

Luckily only the top eye broke off but I actually like it better now especially with heavier jigs and spoons because it does bend as much
