Team Extreme Fox Lake WI

January 4, 2015 was the start of the Team Extreme (TE) Wisconsin Circuit on Fox Lake in Fox Lake WI. There were 30 teams entered and conditions were less than favorable. 25mph winds gusts up to 35, snow and cold where what everyone had to deal with. Due to not having a snowmobile or four wheeler our area of fishing was very limited due to knee high snow drifts. My partner and I decided to work the area we did well at a week prior to the tournament and where I knocked the snot out of the crappies the day before. There were only three other teams who decided to fish this area but had no success as they watched us catch three keeper crappies in the first 15mins. After the other three teams took off we decided to start working in their direction hoping to land on the school of crappies that were there the day before. It almost seemed like for every 25 holes we punched we would get 1 crappie. Needless to say we had to work our butts off to scratch out 8 crappies. With a hour left in the tournament and a 25min walk a head of us we decided to move in shallow and try for bluegills. It didn't take long to find weeds but there were no gills sitting in them. While waiting for weigh in, we spoke to a couple of other teams who said they also had a hard time looking for bluegills but were able to get a few. The more I heard "yea we got 8 and 0" the better I felt about our results. I told my partner "I'll be happy if we break 5lbs or 20th place." Bucket after bucket started weighing in and I noticed we got beat down pretty bad but once our bucket came to the scales they called our big fish as 1.02lbs which was one of the bigger crappies and a total weight of 5.03lbs good enough for 19th place. I turned to my partner and said "well I'm happy with our results even though we missed a few big fish and had to walk." My partner agreed and then a team that ended up taking 7th turned around and said "you were the walkers? and you did that well? Yea I would say those are great numbers seeing your movement was very limited." Just knowing we beat out guys who had wheelers and sleds made the 19th place finish even better. Sure it wasn't in the money or even top 10 but the experience and knowledge I gained was worth more than any amount of money. We get two weeks off before our second stop on the Team Extreme circuit on Lake Noquebay in Crivitz WI. After looking at this lake on Navionics I am really exicited to fish this lake with the amount of deep water basins and shallow humps.
