Rapala Jigging

I've never been much of an ice fisherman. Usually go a few times a year toss a few tip ups in and sit around and wait as a means to get my fishing itch out of the way from the long winter months while waiting for the ice to break. This year I made it a point to get out and try to learn how to jig for walleye on the ice with a Rapala Jig Rap. I found out the bait is actually pretty easy to get down. I didn't have that uncomfortable feeling of "am I doing this wrong" or "this doesn't feel like I'm working this right". The bait's darting action of back and forth was pretty apparent. You really feel in control of it's erratic actions. Within 15 minutes I had my first walleye. Just a baby 12 inches long. Felt good though that I knew I was doing something right. By the end of the day I had caught 7 walleye. No monsters but I only caught 1 other walleye on the tip ups nearby with live bait on them. I felt it was a reasonably impressive performance by the bait and know that I will jigging a rapala jig rap the next time I go out.
