Choosing The Right Gear for the Job

I will start from the Basics for Bass fishing and we will change it up in the next report! Top Water fishing for bass is a awesome and sometime frustrating thing but well worth the effort with the right gear! 1.Top Water Fishing: Top Water Rod Bait Casting 7'2 Med/Hvy Action Reel Bait Casting mid to high retrieve gear ratio. (I personally like to use Monofilament as it has some stretch and gives you a little shock absorption and time so you don't lose as many fish the key is to use a floating line in this set up) 2.Flipping Heavy Cover: Flipping Rod 7'6-8FT Med/Hvy to Heavy Action coupled with a High Speed Bait Casting Reel, I will typically use Braided Line for this application usually 50-65Lb if I'm Flipping bushes trees or Brush piles I will use Fluorocarbon Lines in 17-25LB Test. 3. Jerk Bait Fishing: Spinning Rod 6'8-7FT Med-Med Heavy Fast Action 1550-2500 Series Spinning Reels I will traditionally use 20LB Braided Line if I have extremely Clear Water I will Use a Fluorocarbon Leader. I will also use a Bait Casting Rod and Reel Similar to my Top Water Rod if there is grass or light cover. I hope this Helps you in making your decision a little easier, we will come back next week with another three selections! Spiro Agouros Good Fishing

Short and sweet. Just to be more specific, are you talking about using mono for poppers or frogs? I would guess poppers just because in addition to the shock absorbing, it would also prevent the line from getting caught up in the hooks of the poppers?
