High School Fishing Teams
Participation in High School Fishing Teams is sweeping the Country. I'm so thrilled to see how far this program has come in such a short time. The kids are so eager to learn and surprisingly very talented. Like the College program, each team consists of two Anglers. The main difference is that a Boat Captain is required, naturally because of the ages of the contestants. If you get a chance, don't hesitate to volunteer. The only limitations are lack of Captains and boats.
This is my second year as a Boat Captain for Forney High School. No doubt it's one of the most rewarding days that I've spent on a lake fishing for Bass. Although the Captains don't fish, the day goes by quickly. Watching the excitement of the kids preparing and making each cast with 100% confidence that they will get a bite, is hard to put to words. Last week I Captained my youngest Son's Team. As 98 local High School Teams competed, I was very proud to see my son Brady finish in 7th place. To make a Dad even prouder, he had to fish Solo as his team mate was unable to attend and still finished 7th!
I highly recommend you to seek out and Volunteer. Until next time, Good Fishing - Steve.
