Junk Fishing

So what do you think about when you see or hear the term junk fishing? Some might think the nastiest stuff in a lake or river. Lilly pads, trees, grass, shopping carts, vehicles, you get my point. The shopping carts and cars are for a different report. Anyway, that is not what I think when I say junk fishing. There is a another reason to have five or more rods on the front deck other than just looking good. If you are fishing a large area and fish are not keyed in on one piece of cover you need to have multiple baits ready. You have found fish on points, on docks, on transitions, and cruising. In this situation you must be versatile with your approach. You can not rely on one bait or you will have a boat catching fish behind you and you are left wondering why. The most important part of this technique is understanding how the fish is relating to each type of structure and how they will feed when they are. Each bit of structure is different. Once you understand how that fish is positioned you can quickly change baits with each cast and be successful. Once you figure it out you can catch a fish on a spinnerbait, a topwater, and a shaky head on the same stretch. Learn to choose the right bait for the piece of cover as you approach it and you will catch fish. Good luck and always be learning.

Exactly, the fish are always under the handle and never in the basket. Haha

So you're saying it's about knowing how to approach the shopping cart? JK, good stuff.
