Agree or disagree, casting is an art form. Casting in my opinion is 80% of your ability to get a fish to bite. Sometimes you must put a long cast in a perfect spot. Other times you need to hit a very small area with little to no splash. Practice casting, be consistent, and you will catch more fish.

Well it is true that you can not pull into an area with no fish and catch one on a perfect cast. But after all of your hard work and preparation comes down to execution, it can be ruined with a bad cast. Thanks for your reply and I wish you luck this year.

I agree about the importance of casting ability but think that 80% of your ability to catch a fish may be high. I watched the most recent MLF event and saw how the pros were casting their crankbait with their left hand even though they are right handed. They would just flick it out there and hit the spots they needed. Having good gear is a big part of that and having that gear tuning correctly. I thought my casting ability was pretty strong but I want to get to where I can pitch with my left hand so I waste no time swiching hands. I would say the biggest part of getting fish to bite is being around them and then targeting the right depth.
