First multi species trip of the year

Today I was able to get on a lake that I have not fished in a few years in hopes of finding shallow crappies and gills but once we got the boat launch I knew it would be a tought day. This past weekend the water temp was in the 60's but with the recent cold front today it was 58 degrees. My cousin and I quickly rethought our approach and decided to target pike and bass to start. It didn't take long for my cousin to hook into his first pike which was in the low 20'' range. A few casts later my Berkley Flicker Shad came to a sudden stop with a chunky 14'' large mouth on the end. While we worked the shoreline we caught a number of small pike and had a ton of follow ups. We then decided to try the East shore in hopes of finding larger fish. Right off the bat I stuck a nicer large mouth, then it was back to small pike. Around noon we decided to try the deeper edges in hopes of finding crappies. While working back my Impluse jig I looked behind it and noticed something chasing. A 14'' smallmouth had no issues inhaling my jig and that was one of the funnest fights I've had all day while using 4lb test Berkley 100% fluorocarbon and my 13Fishing light action Ambition. We were on the water around 0830 and off around 1:30pm and had to many pike to count and 6 or 7 bass. Overall I'm calling it a successful trip and I can't wait for the water to warm up and hit the massive bluegills that this lake is known for..
