Making A Tagging System

Some tournaments are won and loss by ounces and this wasn't more apparent last year while fishing the Gogama First Annual Walleye Tournament with fellow NPS/Wannabe Fisherman Owner Andy Yu when we squeaked out Fifth Place by one ounce. Where culling is legal, after weighing a fish you simply attach a color tag to it and write down it's weight. After your limit is caught, you can start culling fish. At glance you can now tell by the color of tag that is on a fish what it weighs.. As I was prepping for the Mattagami First Nation Walleye Tournament that is this weekend (June 6th and 7th), I notice my tagging system needed to be replaced. I recalled having some clips which had snaps on them and that I had seen some bright colored coated rubber elastics at the dollar store the other day. After a quick stop at the dollar store I was ready to start making my tagging system. First I cut out the plastic that was in the center of the snap with a filleting knife. After cut it out, I then cut each colored in half. Next I ran one end of the elastic through the hole and tied a knot in it. I then tied another knot on the other end near the hole to keep it from being pulled out. Now I have my tagging system for under ten dollars for the next season or two.
