The Fish of Ten (thousand?) Casts

I've spent quite a bit of time fishing the Kawartha Lakes over the past few years, and like anyone have run into my share of incidental musky bites while bass fishing. Typically these incidentals come on overcast days casting fast-moving baits like a Spinnerbait. The last two weekends have been different. Over two days on the water fishing for bass, the boat saw 6 musky hooked (confirmed, landed or lost at boat), several follows, and upwards of another 4 suspected bite-offs on heavy gear all while using traditional bass techniques. These fish were all in close to shore, sitting on water that would normally be great bass holding territory - not surprisingly the bass were nowhere to be found on these spots during this time. Personally I hooked two on a flipping jig pitching to shallow cover, one on a senko in deep weeds, and two on a spinnerbaits burning the top of medium depth weed flats (one of which being the largest I have ever laid eyes on, which was promptly lost). Conditions were variable bright sun, HOT temps, and calm winds. A few pictures for your viewing pleasure - included a decent target species as well! Has anyone else ever experienced oddly slow bass fishing in prime weather with a crazy musky bite?

This season has been a little odd...was at Rice a few weeks back and didn't get one bass bite while fishing for bass....all walleye, and one had a huge bite out of his side when I got him into the boat.
