Weird season so far on the Kawartha lake I fish.

I typically only fish one body of water during the softwater season as I have a trailer in the Kawarthas. The lake I fish has been a tough nut to crack this year, even though I've been fishing there for all of my 43yrs. Weather systems every weekend, milfoil not growing in the usually spots and water being lowered via the dam makes the fishing pretty difficult. Crank baits, topwater, jerk baits and even the stick bait bite has been different from previous years. The only real "working" pattern is the flippin' and pitchin' into deep the milfoil patches that we are finding.......10 - 12ft depth seem to be working best. Yeah, we are catching using other techniques but not as consistantly as this. Usually, we just smash them on texas rigged swimbaits but that bite seems to be non-existant. The smallies have been tough to find also. Oh well, we'll keep plugging away and keep hoping for stable weather come the weekends. The boys at the park are calling me the rain man since it's nice all week until I come up and the rain starts! :)
