Getting vertical

Shimano's vertical jigging system here in the Gulf was a game changer. I was lucky enough to get involved with Shimano during the testing stages of this mysterious technique. Although almost everyone I know has tried it, and caught fish with it many are not using it to its full potential. There is a certain rythum that has to be achieved in order to trigger that little part of a fishes brain so he will go into attack mode. Many anglers are too fast, many are too slow and still others use too much of the rod in order to get the action. The real secret is in the reel. I can't tell you how many trips I've been on when a customer or fellow fisherman is using these jigs and not getting bit, only to have me drop right next to them and hook-up right away.
