April 2017 Panfish Fun

Even thou the last weekend of April was very cold and windy, April did have some nice sunny days that allowed for for shallow back channel fishing. The key was to wait until about 2pm so the sun could warm up the water and get the fish into a position that was easy to target. Using a simple ultralight rod, 3 pound mono, old school red/white bobber and a neat bait called the "mustache" we were able to boat over 20 nice slabs in about an hour. Wish I would have taken pics of the nice sunfish/bluegill we caught, colours were so bright! Do yourself a favour, have some fun, get out in the afternoon on a sunny day in April & May and enjoy the pan fishing!
