Pre Ice Shallow Walleye

I spent an afternoon last weekend fine tuning deep water drop offs on my hand held GPS in preparation for the hard water season and of course fishing while doing so. After cashing in on some fairly decent smallmouth I hit the 8-10 flats throwing X Raps covering water and very happy I did! It didn't take long to connect with a school of hungry walleye and a few rogue pike. The moral of the story is don't be fooled thinking all fish are deep this time of year. Late season can bring some incredible shallow water action when your timing is right.
