Doing Smallmouth things.

The Smallmouth have been hot on the Mississippi and lakes around home. The main target has been big and deep isolated boulders not in search of numbers but size as they will only hold a couple fish on each Boulder. Drop Shotting a Gambler Fat ace and also a BB Cricket on the edges and keeping them in the spot has sealed the deal on every bite which could take a couple minutes at a time. I am taking two different approaches with drop shot with the length between the bait and the weight. My first punch is going to be the fat ace which I have been using a foot leader playing the bait through out that section of the water on the sides of the boulder making a commotion to try and get the fish to bite out of aggression but if a few minutes go by and that fish has not bit I will follow up with the BB cricket on a 3 "leader keeping the bait in the spot but having the most realistic presentation which will usually seal the deal if I hit the right area of the boulder. Side imaging and networking through your counsel and bow units to be on top of the boulder allowing me to drop precisely on the edge have been the only way to get a bite.
