Illini Div BFL out of Golconda IL

Well I had a great practice but I could not adjust tournament morning. The tournament runs of Golconda IL and I made the choice to lock down and make the 40 mile run to Cumberland river below the Barkley dam. I Had a mixed bag of 12-15 lbs each day in practice and fished new water each day to find something off the wall for the tournament day knowing it was going to be a packed house. Tournament morning they dropped the river to a low I had not seen in practice due to the demand for power I believe for air conditioning. It was close to 110 heat index. They drop it to allow the river to fill when they turn on the turbines for power. I simply couldn't adjust. I caught one keeper all day which somehow jumped me 10 spots up in the AOY standings since tons of guys blanked. I caught my fish in practice on a crank, jig, and tube. Tourney day I caught the fish on a Beast Coast fishing finesse dragging jig. All in all I learned a ton and banked a lot of info for next year and had a blast with all my fishing buddies on and off the water. That's what it is all about. On to the next one and achieving the goal of making regionals. Fishing is a humbling sport!!
