Youth Outdoors Expo

This past weekend I had the opportunity to hang out for the day at the Youth Outdoors Expo, put on by the Women That Hunt (womenthathunt.com). I was representing Canadian Kayak Anglers, and provided an opportunity for youth (and their parents) to talk kayak fishing. This event showcased a variety of activities and organizations that encourage active youth and the outdoors. I was only too happy to get involved, and I spent a lot of time showing off some of the things you can do with a kayak, and discussing local fishing opportunities, anything to encourage kids to get out and enjoy the outdoors. It was a small investment of time, but it felt good being able to support an event that encourages everyone in the community to be involved, and to get outdoors. In addition, the Women That Hunt used this as an opportunity to raise money both for scholarships for youth at , and in support of the Soldier On program. This was a first year event that was hugely successful, bringing out a ton of families to partake in the event, showcasing the Women That Hunt and what they do, and raising a lot of money for some worthy causes. Plans are already in the works for 2017, and Canadian Kayak Anglers will return to once again do our small part to help encourage youth to get outdoors.
