Rattle Trap Adjustments

small weather front, rapid rising air pressure, and bright sky had the bass playing hardball to catch. I knew they would be less active & searching for some sort of shade to bunker down in with those conditions. I focused my fishing on areas with the thickest submerged grass piles holding the cleanest water. Fished some worms, pitched some jigs but couldn't buy a bite over 12 inches. Whipped out the rattle trap and took few hundred cast without a nibble. I stepped back and asked myself what I can do differently because I know if bigger fish were anywhere in that area that is where they would be hanging. Rather then endless throws ripping my trap through the grass for no results I decided to change it up and rely more on the sun rather then element of surprise to make my trap be more effective. Instead of casting past the grass and coming through the grass heads, focused landing on top of grass letting bait flutter down & when I felt it was just about touch the grass yo yo the trap up to flash in the sun drop it down and repeat (No actual reeling in, just picking up the slack) the fish literally could not resist it. Went on to catch 20+ fish and most of them had nice size. One adjustment made all the difference.
