3rd Place, CBAF Joint Qualifier, Sparrow Lake

Today I had the pleasure of teaming with GHBA teammate Steve Churman and competed in the CBAF Joint Qualifier on Sparrow Lake. We spent the morning working bays throughout the river and began hammering the largemouth at about 8:00AM. My first catch was a 3.8lb bucket on a senko and it set the tone for the rest of my day. Although I threw my spinnerbait a few times, I caught all my fish on a senko and I definitely have a favorite technique that I plan on using often. My teammate had a ton of success throwing jigs around sunken trees and throwing frogs in 3 feet of water atop of lilly pads. Most of the day was spend with Steve working structure, cover and the shoreline with me working the deeper water. We ended up placing 3rd (out of 60 boats) with a weight of 13.9lbs with the first place team exceeding 17lbs which is an incredible bag considering the lake and the recent cold front. All our fish were largies. The fish were definitely shut down compared to normal. A lot of guys had a really tough time today and I was lucky to have a partner that knew some key areas in the lake. It was a fantastic day and walking away with a cheque was just gravy. Ken
