March Break Ice Fishing Derby for the kids

This past March Break our family headed north to spend time with our good friends in the great outdoors of spectacular Manitoulin Island. Who needs the warmth of the sunny south during March Break when there are so many fish to be caught through the ice in Canada?? We decided to take our kids to the Gore Bay & District Fish & Game Club Annual Kids Ice Fishing Derby held on Lake Wolsey. The targeted fish for the day were rainbow trout and perch. This was a first class event organized and hosted by the members which was very well run with every kid going home with at least one prize. It was amazing to see the very strong support from the local business community with all the.prize donations. Even though the wind was a little cold the hot chocolate and hot dogs were a warm welcome at the end of day. The kids had a blast spending time not just fishing but hanging out socializing with their buddies. Many smiling faces and stories on the ride home. Thanks to the Gore Bay & District Fish & Game Club.
