First Day In A Boat
After a long winter with over 80 days on the ice, it felt glorious to get in a boat today! On the water around 4 am, we dodged floating ice bergs and other debris to get to the spot. Gotta keep things exciting you know!
The fishing started off very slow and stayed that way throughout the day. The fish were lethargic with water temperatures still hovering around 43. Using super slow retrieves produced the most fish but they were not schooled up yet. Many casts took 10 minutes with bites occurring within only feet of the boat. The fish were tracking and biting light. Most bites wouldn't even pull the bobber under.
The majority of the trip was spent with a hard rain coming down. As the rain slowed up so did the fishing. After the rain quit so did the fish... Not even a single bite. I didn't need to spend the entire day on the water, so I was on the road home by 3 with great anticipation for the next trip out!
