Weekend of steelhead fishing

Thursday morning went fishing for steel, but no luck. At night went out for catfish for the first time with a few of my fishing friends. It was super slow and only 1 was landed. However, had a lot of fun and can't wait to do it again! Spent Saturday and Sunday fishing the Erie Tribs. Saturday saw a decent amount of steel that pushed upstream after the rain. Not much action but landed one. Caught it on the fly I just learned how to tie from the last report! Easter Sunday was absolutely gorgeous out! Spent the morning fishing with NPS Mikey Metcalfe and his buddy. As always a lot of fun and laughs! Mike and I both landed 3. Here is a neat story from Sunday. The viz was pretty clear so it was easy to spot fish. Saw a steelhead about 3 feet in front of me so I dropped my line in the water and let it float. When it was inches in front of him, I saw him dart forward mouth open then BAM he inhaled the jig!! Set the hook, fish on! It was so awesome being able to see the steels mouth open and take the jig! All in all great weekend of fishing!
