Cranking it down for those kawartha eyes
Kawartha lakes ON
May. 13, 2012 6:00pm

With opening weekend of walleye in full swing in the kawartha area here in Ontario, the fishing has been amazing.
The keys to crank bait fishing for walleye this weekend were to fish weed lines in 6-10 fow, either bring the bait parallel to the weed line or bringing it towards. Working the bait very slow until you made contact with a weeds then ripping the bait through the weeds, to ensure that your hooks remained weed free.
Be aware of bait fish in area when choosing color selection like any other time using crank baits, like everyone says match the hatch.
Be patient when using crank baits as you may have to work an area for a period of time till you are able to locate them. The fish will tell you if they are more aggressive or sluggish by the way they are hitting the crank bait. So be patient and take your time when working a crank bait and hope you have as much success on the water as you can
Tightlines and have fun

Good work Matthew! Opener for us on the Ottawa is Friday, and I'm
booked for pike. Good chance we'll be trolling weedlines for fish
fish teeth regardless whether they're gold or green. Keep crankin'!

Nice fish, Matthew. I love that crank bait especially the no. 6 I
find it funny thought that they almost always go for the white end
tail. Don't be afraid to let it sit 30 seconds or so after you've
ripped a weed when you saw a follower.

hey denis i actually changed the tail to a red but yes waiting a
while and letting the bait just stay there can be very productive for
those in active eyes.
