This could be the hottest i have ever seen walleyes!! Not just myself but pretty much everyone I speak with is telling stories of 20 and 30 fish days, on multiple lakes throughout the kawarthas. Typically May is a little slower than June due to the post spawn blues. This year because of our warm spring the walleyes got the job done early and it seems june came early!! The question is how long will it last?? The "pond weed" that grows in most of the kawarthas is full grown now and will start to dissapear in the next two weeks. This leaves walleye with two options, Deep water or milfoil. Ill be fishing milfoil however it is not as easy to locate in relation to deep water as the "pond weed". In years past once the pond weed dies off the walleye get harder to catch so if you have a sick day you've been saving now would be the time to head out. Over 200 walleyes have hit the carpet on my skeeter this year, Alot of em on BENTO's and we usually get our high number days in june. What an amazing May this has been!! Hope it keeps up!! |
