Today we just finished up our second tourney of the year in Redlake Ontario. This tourney was really tough compared to past years, the fish were just coming of their spawn. In past years these fish have been done their spawn and been in the post spawn stage.
The fishing was tough although we did catch about 50-60 fish but these fish were only 12-13 inches they were no help to us so we kept looking. What we figured out through out the day is that we need to cover water but very slowly and efficiently, we also found that pitching little jigs to mud/rocky shorelines was a great way to catch some decent under slots. It took a while to finally get a few bigger bits though, and out of the two days we fished we had not caught an over but at about noon today we were pitching little jigs to shore and we managed to set the hook into a 7 pounder. Now we still needed some slots so we started throwing the little Berkley Frenzy Flicker Shad and managed to catch some 16- 16 1/2 slots, these were ok fish but we knew they would not win us the tournament.
So at the end of the day we had a 7 pounder and 3 16-16 1/2 inch slots and what the official weight was after we weighed them in was 14.58 pounds this ended up putting us in fourth place. |
