Using technology to your advantage!
Haliburton Highlands ON
Jan. 8, 2012 11:25pm

As we all know technology is forever become more and more helpful and innovative in our everyday aspects of life.
This past weekend i got to spend some time on the ice, fishing for lake trout with some of my close friends ; NPS Prostaff Peter & Mike Tuz, as well as NPS Amateurs Patrick Good, and Crystal Rielly, also along with us a couple of our close friends.
We managed to land over a dozen lakers today throughout the morning between all of us but only a couple being quality fish, but still fun none the less!

The BIGGEST key factor into helping us track and catch these fish had to do with the use of our electronics. The ICE55 made by HUMMINBIRD, helped us find the depths and areas we needed to key in on to find them. With the new 6 color fiber optics on the flasher it made it easy to distinguish different structures, depths, bait, big and small fish as well as our baits/lures. Once marking fish on the flasher it made it a lot easier to target in on the different area's of the water column and entice these fish to either chase the lure/bait, or just by strictly dropping the bait right in front of their nose en order to get them to hit.
Although the bite was slow this weekend, owning a Humminbird ICE 55 defiantly improved our odds and helped drastically in locating and catching fish, i would strongly suggest looking into purchasing a Humminbird flasher if you enjoy being out ice fishing for any type of fresh water species, it makes the entire experience more entertaining, interesting and bottom line FUN!!
See you on the water/ice and TIGHTLINES!!
