Battle of The Spoons
Today was a challenge day for trolling spoons . My rod against the other two anglers with there local favourite spoons. We fished for 5 hours and the only rod active was mine using the AP Tackleworks spoons. I offered to let them use them but they were stubborn and continued to use the local spoons. Winds came up 10 mph to 15 mph that were not in the marine forecast. I did spoon changes every hour . So having them pre made with leaders and stored in the RigRap locker system made a big difference while being tossed in 1 1/2 to 2 foot wave. I also carry what I call a wet bag. This keeps the used wet accessories away from the dry lures and flasher not used that are dry. Our depth varied from 180 ' to 210' feet deep.
As usual the main player was the Amundson Savvy Sumo Lieutenant Mooching Rod with the the Trend X5 Mooching reel. There is allot of pressure on the line being dragged 210 feet deep and the the X5 mooching reel drag did not slip .
