River Journal 09/12/2018

With the heavy rain of yesterday I new the river would have risen. I was over my waist crossing to the island on my favorite flo. Lucky its a side channel and the water is slow. On the other side of the island the full force of the river is hitting you and today it was up to your knees. Yesterday three anglers fell in and today the river is higher. Very hard on the legs to keep balanced lucky I had steel studs on my wading boots soles. Its very important to have a chest belt to stop your waders from filling up. Again using Steelybeads pegged 2 inches above a #1 hook drifting with a float. I did land my two cohos and was worn out ,ready to go home by 9am. The first coho I thought was a spring. The power and runs were hard to control. After landing it we weighed the salmon and it was a little over 12 pounds. Thank goodness we had the Luckystrike ruber salmon net . I landed four more cohos and safley released them with the rubber salmon net without damage from loss of scales or their protective slime that normal chord nets do. The Amundson graphite construction makes it easy for long durations of casting.
