Canadian Angler Hall of Fame Alumni have Voted

I received this message yesterday: Good morning Richard, Congratulations! The votes are in and this year’s winner of the Conservation Project of the Year goes to Lake Huron Fishing Club - School Salmon Hatchery Program. Congratulations again and we hope to see you in a few weeks. Regards, Andrew and Vita Pallotta Spring Fishing & Boat Show Canadian Angler Hall of Fame All I could say is WOW, I'm totally blown away, we have grown from 1 School 7 years ago to 37 schools this year in 5 MNRF Districts from Sarnia to Milton To Collingwood to Gore Bay on Manitoulin Island. The students have been a part of seeing the eggs hatch, feeding and cleaning the aquariums, doing written or art projects on what they've experienced throughout the 6 or 7 months they have them, presentation put on by Club Members at some of the schools, releasing their Salmon at Kincardine or Southampton rivers, touring the Chinook Salmon Hatchery in Port Elgin or the Trout Hatchery in Kincardine and maybe tour the Kincardine Lighthouse, 1 School was able to fish for the afternoon at the Port Elgin town pond after their release and another was able to take part in our Rainbow Trout fin clipping at the Kincardine Trout hatchery plus a couple were able to take part in the Fish Kincardine Derby helping at the Weigh Station and handling the fish while helping to weigh and measure them with the Volunteers running the Weigh Station, quite a few students and adults told me that was the best school trip they were ever on, you sure feel good when you get to see and hear that. Clubs Involved: To make this all happen Lake Huron Fishing Club have formed a Partnership with the Waterloo/Wellington and Mississauga club from the (CBAF) Canadian Bass Anglers Federation, (BPSA) Bruce Peninsula Sportsmen’s Association Wiarton, (SSA) Sydenham Sportsmen Association Owen Sound, Bluewater Anglers Sarnia, United Fish and Game Club of Manitoulin Island. This year we added Forest City Bassmasters Club London and the (GTAA) Georgian Triangle Angler’s Association Collingwood. Funding started with the Lake Huron Fishing Clubs Conservation Account the first two years, Libro Credit Union Community Grant the 3rd year, Enbridge Donation in the 4th year and Bruce Power formed a Partnership with us the 4th Year as well and have funded the program the 5th, 6th and 7th year and we are very thankful for all their support. Industry Donations have come from Blackfly Lures, Bass Magnet Lure Company, Rapala, Fish'n Canada, Learn To Fish, Ontario Out of Doors, Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, Community Hatcheries Program, Toronto Sportsman's Show, Department of Fisheries and Oceans coloring books plus a few stores Angling Sports, Ace 'n JJ's, Gay Lea Foods Teeswater Store. I really hope I didn't forget anyone but if I did I'm really sorry and can edit if needed. Does anyone want to be my secretary, lol. Thanx LHFC School Hatchery Program Co-ordinator Richard http://canadiananglerhalloffame.com/?page_id=7
