Jumbo Perch
This past weekend, I took my younger brother out for some Jumbo Perch and Lady Simcoe did not disappoint. I checked some of my shallower spots and noticed the water was cloudier than normal so I stuck to stuff deeper than 20 feet. It is hard to say if the water clarity had something to do with the small schools but when they came through there would be 2-5 fish in the school. We would pluck a couple of them off then it would die until another small school came by. This didn't seem to bother me though because they were all big! I released a couple that were close to 14" and we caught a bunch in the 11-12" range. The key was having areas that you know big Perch use and just being patient. When they did come in the active ones ate a spoon and the finicky ones ate a micro tube covered in BioEdge Goby potion. I must also admit that these new Stix and Stones toques are super warm and comfy!
