Bass season has finally arrived. This past weekend I could not wait to tryout a bunch of new Jackall baits that were collected over this past winter. Since I am a huge fan of soft plastic baits.......the first new bait to try was the Jackall Scissor Comb. The Scissor Comb is several baits combined. It is mainly a creature bait with a plastic worm / centipede look. The Scisor Comb is 6 inches long with eight arms attached to a slim body that tapers down to a split tail design constructed of high density plastic to prevent easy tearing. It is very different and can be fished several ways. From my research most people are either texas rigging with a light worm weight the same way
you would as a plastic worm or a weightless wacky rig. Since it was going to be the first
time using the new bait and dealing with post spawn large mouth. I decided to go with a texas rigged Scissor Comb since I wanted to keep it simple. My rig consisted of a pegged 3/16 oz Ultra tungsten worm weight with a Gamakatsu straight shanked 4/0 worm hook. After a few close pitches beside the boat to watch the action of the Scissor Comb to figure out the best retrieve. The eight arms quiver and shake on the drop and on the swim. I started to pitch the Scissor Comb to cover allowing the bait to fall on semi slack line then once on the bottom letting it sit for a short period of time. Once the bait soaked I then slowly swam it back to the boat. It was not long before the first large mouth decided to eat up my offering. Then followed by several more bass being caught
throughout the day. Most of the bass bit on the slow initial drop. It was pretty cool to catch fish on a new bait the first time using it. I cannot wait to experiment with other
ways to fish the Jackall Scissor Comb in the near future. Available in 6 colour and one
length of 6 inches. www.jackall-lures.com
