Zone 19 opener with a surprise guest

Well it was finally time to tie up the bass gear and get at er for another season of zone 19 bass fishing unfortunately mother nature had other ideas stalling a massive low pressure system over out heads and dumping upwards of 60 mm of rain. On sunday my self and fellow NPS Member Josh Hedden decided to go out in the rain and wind because we are fisherman and we will not let the conditions dampen our spirits. We headed out tot he upper river but with a stiff east wind drifting would be a challenge. We did manage a few hits and finally landed a decent bass to get a notch in the 2015 season. After a few more attempts I decided to move way up river to a shallow flat that always seems to produce fish. Upon arrival Josh had expressed his interest in learning how to drag a tube. I rigged him up and told him to just keep an eye on his line. A few minuets later i hear oh fish on. I look over and his rod is bent right over and wasnt acting like a bass at all. As he got the fish closer to the boat it was even more evident that the bass we thought he had was indeed a muksy, and his first ever. After a quick picture it was back into the water and home time for us as the rain had drenched us for the better part of 5 hours. Now that bass is open all around I cant wait for the season to get into full swing.
