In speaking to the great fisherman, there has always been a common thread communicating the importance of spending time with your maps in preparation for the next event. However as a biologist I can confirm that our water bodies are living organisms continuously changing which of course will influence the behaviour of fishes and more importantly where we can find them. Contours, sand bars, silt deposits are only a few of the characteristics which continue to change on the bed of our favourite water body. Subsequently and in the interests of accuracy and precision as the topography of a lake or river bed changes so to should our charts.
