Shimano Singapore Trip

Hello I have not posted a report in awhile but I have to tell me about my awesome trip to see the Shimano Reel factory in Malaysia. Unlike other reel companies Shimano owns its own factories that produce reels in Japan and Malaysia. The factory was nothing short of an engineer's dream, from cold forging of spools, precise cutting of drive gears to the sound proof booth where a worker sits and just listens to make sure its Shimano quality. There is QC checks throughout all the manufacturing process to ensure perfection that we all expect out of the reels. Now the fun stuff at the factory they have their own testing pond with snakehead in them. We did manage to catch a couple. Then the next days we went to fish ponds that had Giant Trevally's and Baramundis in them. Needless to say we had a great afternoon in the 100 degree heat hooking up with these hard fighting fish and testing some new stuff at the same time. This was a great trip and I have learned a true appreciation of the team Shimano members in Malaysia and their dedication to making the best reels you can fish. I wish I had more photos for you but you cannot take photos in the factory but here is a pic of my first Baramundi. Caught it on a Compre rod, Power Pro Super Slick line and a prototype reel. Thanks

Sounds like a fantastic trip Bob. Judy and I would have loved to have been there to help you with your fishing and testing.

Great to hear Bob, looks like an amazing trip. Buck would be in a playground there with his knowledge of Shimano products.
