There's more to guiding than just catching fish!

Here is another look at a few of the other details of a fishing guide at a fly in camp. There is alot more than just catching fish! To keep a camp successfully running everything must run smooth and be prepared and organized for when clients arrive on the first plane in. There is alot of work behind the scenes that takes place prior and during your arrival at a camp. Some of these jobs include Hauling fuel from one location to another and filling the camp tanks for the generators and boats. Grounds maintenence Running water to cabins and any repairs from winter months to the system, re installing septic pumps etc Removing boards from windows and fixing damage to cabins/buildings from winter Putting in/repairing docks Putting in boats, installing motors and all equipment Setting up equipment/cabins at portage lakes Unloading supplies and food for summer Moving/hauling propane for water heaters and other appliances Also cooking a shore lunch everyday for the clients. The next time youre at a fly in camp take a look at the details that go into running the camp and keeping it functional. You will be suprised at how much behind the scenes work there is to keep things operating and running smoothly. In the end in my opinion its all fun and keeps the clients happy and on fish everyday providing them with an experience they should never forget!
