Trolling for Lakers in Lake Ontario in a 14 foot LUND. CRAZY?! Watch!
Rob Henry and I managed to get out fishing for the first time in a long time.
We decided to try trolling for Lakers in Lake Ontario.
The thing is...Rob's boat is a 14 foot LUND.
we landed 7 of 8 Lakers (one of them got caught in another line and shook free), and 2 respectable walleye.
Here are the specs on the boat, and some of the other equipment we used!
1986 Lund SSV 14
2005 Mercury 25hp 4 Stroke
Bow mount trolling motor is a 12v 55lb thrust Minnkota Power Drive
Humminbird Helix9 SI/GPS Fish finder/Sonar.
Custom deck and storage made by Rob, fully carpeted and equipped with a plethora of Scotty Rod holders.
We were using a combination of Rapala RSCII Counter reel's loaded with 832 Suffix Performance Leadcore line on 8'11" and 9' Down Rigger rods. And when we trolled for pike and walleye, we used the same reels, but loaded with Suffix 832 50lb braid with deep diving Rapala lures.
We trolled with Offshore Planer boards while on the big water.
This little tinner is the little Boat that Could! We had 3...yes 3 12-18lb Lakers in the live well at one time, and he tells me he's had as many as 4 in there. (We wanted to be sure the fish swam away so we spent plenty of time recouping them. All fish were released (except the last Walleye) unharmed.
Rob also made the custom rod tree you see in the clips.
All in all, this boat has seen so much water, and an unbelievable amount of fish.
Check Rob out and give him a follow on Instagram @Robbieredneckjr as well as give his webpage a view. www.SPOOLED.ca
I'm hoping to share more content with Rob in the near future, as we work to build his YouTube page, so stay tuned. We have a rather LARGE surprise coming in the next few weeks...
