Spinnerbaits

A spinnerbait can be a great lure of choice in the fall and early winter because it can be fished at all levels. You can wake it near the surface, run it a couple of feet down, depending upon water depth and the mood of the bass. Many anglers prefer tandem willow leaf blades for slow rolling while others prefer a single Colorado blade, yet others choose a combination of both. All can be very effective ways to load the boat. When slow rolling deep, just off the bottom, choosing a ¾ to 1oz baits, with a single Colorado blade as a cold water application can be very productive. A slow rolled spinnerbait in front of a bass that does not want to be real aggressive can entice a bite. Slow-rolling a spinner bait can be difficult to detect a strike in cold water, as a rule of thumb, when you feel the blades on the spinner bait stop rolling, set the hook! On a different note, take a moment to count your blessings. We don't have to look very far to see someone that is far less fortunate than we are. As we gather with family and loved ones over the next few days remember those that are fighting for our freedom and are unable to be at home during this time. Happy Thanksgiving!
