Beach Journal October 11, 2017

After yesterday I had great plans for today. As tides change proximately 1 hour forward that would mean the same condition should be attained around 11 am today. The difference in weather was major. Yesterday strong winds. very cold, heavy rain. Today calm, no wind and no rain. I started to explore different beaches timing myself so that I could be at the beach were I found the coho yesterday . The first beach I arrived at 7:30 am and continued to explore manu other locations till 9 am. I had 2 more hours to kill before my final destination and was feeling disappointed as the other beaches were avoid of any signs of salmon. As I explored north and south with binoculars I catch a glimpse of something . Its a good distance so I decide to drive over there. I find two other anglers among a school of coho and I don't want to disrespect their spot. So I wait knowing salmon often will move around. After 10 minutes they started in my direction. I see the location of the first salmon . I cast well ahead with the object of drawing the lure across their path . First cast and slam . A beautiful wild Coho. Great runs on the 8 pound line with the Amundson 13 foot rod absorbing all the power the could salmon put on it. The school of Coho kept me at that location till 10:30 and when it slowed down I moved to the beach from yesterday and it was empty of any salmon . Good move to explore this morning.
