Part 1 of 2 of a great weekend

Great weather, friends and fishing is what last weekend was all about. After a rainy day on Friday, Heather, the girls and I decided to head out after dinner for some shallow water trolling as the skies had started to clear up as the sun was going down. A couple weeks ago, I talked about the abundance of fish that come into the shallows to feed after dark and this was looking like a great night to capitalize on it. I took control of the electric motor and let the girls fish. They all picked their favorite J-9 Rapalas and it was game on. My oldest step daughter had just celebrated her 13th birthday the day before and I had wished her a fishfull birthday, little did we know how true this was about to come. After a few small walleye and some panfish, Jennasee anounced that she had a fish on, then thought she was snagged. The throbbing bounce of her rod told us otherwise and she became very excited as a 25 inch walleye approached the boat. Listening to a few instructions and fighting the fish like an old pro, moments later it was in the bottom of the net. The smiles and thumbs up said it all. After a couple quick pictures, we returned her prize catch to the shallow feeding grounds from it had come. As much as Jennasee wished we could have kept her catch, she understands the slot size and the importance of releasing fish that are in their prime for successful reproduction. We now have a teenage girl on our hands that is torn between going fishing and hanging out with her friends. Lets root for the fishing.

Absolutely, we actually came in and took a break from Musky fishing on Saturday because the girls were texting saying that they wanted to go fishing. Took them out and they filled the boat with Bluegills.
