Cloudy Daze

It has been far too long since we have posted on here, but we are back! Sunday was a hell of a morning; overcast and misty morning we got to one of our honey holes before sunrise; 6:40am. We split into 2 groups wading up and down the shoreline, maybe 2000-3000 yards apart. The bite was slow to start but around 7:15-7:20am we heard what sounded like tiny needles falling on the ground, it was a storm cell rolling in a little earlier than expected. Then out of nowhere in the rain shower the first bite; SLAAMM!, Jakes reel starts screaming, peeling line! The bite turned on! Right after that I casted up on the shore and BOOM! Hooked up! We had just stumbled upon a school of slot Redfish and they were munching! From there on until about 9:30am we stayed on the fish catching and releasing over 20 Redfish between the 5 of us. Cameron landed a beautiful summer 6.5 lb, 28" speckled trout; sadly she completely inhaled the jighead and the lure was lodged directly down the hatch and died. We pride ourselves on releasing oversized trout, these types of situations are inevitable though. In these 2 1/2 hours there was not a boat in sight mind you, besides the ones running up and down the bay trying to escape the storms. We've learned over the years that you have to stick it out sometimes in the less than ideal conditions to catch the big ones! It was exciting to get back to our stomping grounds; made us eager for the Winter to get here. Until next time - Stay Tight - Cheers!
