Mitchell's Bay Open Tournament
Date: July 8,9
Lake: Lake St Clair
Event: Mitchell's Bay Open
Partner: Marcel Lambercy
Water Temp: 74-77
Species: Smallmouth Bass
Techniques: Tubes, Jerkbaits fished over scattered weed lines and patches in 9-17' of water. Cold Front and big winds moved in the 2nd day and forced us to slow down and fish areas thoroughly with a tube Jig. Challenge during practice was finding areas with bigger fish, St Clair is so full of bass that you get bit everywhere and its hard to locate where the larger numbers of big fish are. The area we started first day of the tourney was void of fish and loaded two days before with quality fish in the 3-3.75 lb range. We ended up on our 3rd stop of the morning before we got a bite.
Baits: XPS tube jigs in GP and watermelon. Jackall Squadminnow 80SP in Ghost Minnow
Rod/Reel: G.Loomis IMX 853 (7'1) for tubes and a Shimano Crucial CRSDX68MB for jerkbaits both paired with Stadic FK reels and 10 lb Power Pro Super Slick with XPS Fluro leader
Weight: 39.72
Place: 4th.
