Jacks starting on the sunny coast

September is the month when 2 of the most desirable fish on the coast crossover. Mangrove jacks are just starting to appear and mulloway numbers will slowly die off. Chasing jacks at this time of year is hit and miss but they are still an achievable target. Through September jacks will bite a lot more timid then through the warmer months so different, often slower techniques result in more bites and better hook ups. The mulloway will be schooled up in large numbers and with the large mullet numbers still about in some of our rivers they should be keen on a feed of live mullet or mullet imitation lures.
