Beach Fishing Journal Sept. 27, 2016
Today started with a highway accident that held the traffic 1 ½ hours. Finally I arrive to the beach I am targeting. Low tide is 5.2 feet with winds at 15 kph and gust up to 42 kph. I was going to go north but held off. The wind is NW so if I can find a lea side of cliffs or high structure it could be possible to fish.
I did find the perfect coverage unfortunately the white caps with huge rollers kept me from entering the water deep. The salmon were in a distant small area and the only way to reach them was with heavy lures like the Zinger.
The issue with big waves it start to stir the bottom and lots of debris starts to effect you retrieve.
A few times I step to deep and Mother Nature made sure I remember the waves. Some moved me back a couple of feet.
Sometimes the worst days can be very successful. Today I landed 2 wild coho and two hatchery.
