SOME FLOAT TIPS

was just respoolin my floatreel for tomor's outing and thought i'd help out with a few tricks i learned over the yrs . now if your a side caster like i am you know the headaches of line twist. a friend of mine showed me this 2yrs ago and it has majorly cut down on the twist. normally ya just run a swivel under your float. we used to do this so that way if you wanted to run deeper you could just slide your float up. well its tit for tat doin this but i prefer to tie on a new lead then run with twisted line all day. you run a swivel below and above your float. i make the line inbetween about a ft or two depending on water clarity that way i can still adjust alittle deeper. has made all the difference in the world. i swear much less. well at the line atleast lol now to the rubbers. some floats the centre stick is up much farther then others. i found if u dont run rubbers all the way to the top the line sometimes get looped around when casting. runnin the rubbers all the way up has drastically cut this down from happening. next is splitshot. forever you use to see steelheaders with 20small shots under there float to weight it down. i run one. the least amount of things u can run in the water besides the bait the better. lot easier on the teeth too lol last but not least the hair tie. for all the married guys you may want to buy your wifes bulk packs of them for christmas. trust me im savin ya from gettin yelled at. most float reels will come with a clicker. half the time i forget to put it on lol the ties are good for when walkin from hole to hole or transporting. i dont know how many a times i used to be walkin in the bush and talkin only too look back and see my line got caught on a branch and i have a 100ft of line missin off my reel. also run one at the end when rod is apart. stops the rod pieces from bangin together. just makes the walk less irritating. just very small but hopefully useful tips you can use to make your day just alittle bit more enjoyable. second report today yes i know. rivers are mud and i am bored lol
